Nectar AI, the popular platform for generating AI girlfriends and boyfriends, has just released a brand new updates that significantly improves the role playing experience on the platform.
In case you are not familiar with the role playing feature yet, it erves as a dynamic tool that enhances user interaction and creativity by allowing users to assume various personas or characters. This technique, known as role-play prompting, enables the AI to engage users more effectively by adopting specific roles, such as a teacher, a detective, or a financial advisor, thereby tailoring responses to fit the context of the chosen character.
You can either create your own AI girlfriend from scratch or you can choose from thousands of pre-made companions in the fantasy page.
First, let’s talk about the changes in the backend of the web app. According to Nectar’s blog post, the systems have been made more modular, which allows them to host varying role playing models for the users to enjoy.
Additionally, there’s been improvements on the memory, storytelling, and creativity.
So how does the advanced roleplay differs from the normal roleplay?
The new experience is powered by a model that is almost three times larger, allowing you to harness new improvements that includes the following:
Open any companion that you have already generated and start a chat window. On the upper right corner, you’ll see a toggle for Basic and Advanced roleplay. Click on that toggle button.
An option to switch between the two modes will be displayed. Basic Roleplay is the default setting for all users.
Once selected, you will notice the credits icon turn red. If you don’t have any credits, you will be prompted to purchase them from our store.
Each message in advanced role play mode costs 10 credits. Check out the pricing option for the credits below.
Why is it not part of the paid subscription benefits?
In case you are wondering whether you need to be a paying user to use the feature, no you don’t need an active subscription. Even if you’re on free tier, you can use the advanced roleplay feature as long as you have enough credits.
Nectar had to implement the advanced roleplay as a separate feature, outside of the standard subscription benefits, due to the significant resources required for its development. Unlike the core features, which are included in the subscription, advanced roleplay demands more extensive research and cutting-edge technology. This isn’t just about deploying more powerful models—it involves bringing in top-tier talent and investing in the latest infrastructure to ensure the best possible user experience.
Over time, some of these advanced features may be integrated into the baseline experience, ensuring that the core service continues to evolve and improve alongside the cutting-edge innovations.
The new advanced roleplay is powered by a significantly more sophisticated model than the one used in basic roleplay. This upgrade brings noticeable improvements in understanding, roleplay dynamics, and creative output.
Thanks to extensive training on a broader and richer dataset, the new AI can better grasp complex ideas and understand the nuances of your conversations and storylines. This deeper understanding results in more engaging and contextually appropriate interactions.
Additionally, the enhanced creativity of the model allows it to introduce unexpected twists and maintain a consistently high quality of roleplay. Nectar rigorously tested these improvements and conducted alpha testing with a select group of users.
